Forward Progressives — 10 Questions Every Liberal Should Ask Every Republican

Loved this…

1) If Republicans are so fiscally responsible, why was President Eisenhower (in the 1950′s) the last Republican president to balance the budget?

2) If President Reagan was such a fiscally conservative hero, why did he quadruple our national debt during his eight years in the White House?

3) If tax breaks are the main driving force behind job creation, how would we create jobs once tax rates were reduced to practically zero?

4) If socialized health care is so awful, why does every country that leads the world in life expectancy have socialized health care?

5) If you support the freedom of religion (as per our Constitution), and my church recognizes gay marriage, isn’t your support for the banning of same-sex marriage an attack on my religion’s First Amendment rights?

6) What’s more realistic?  1) That an entire region of the United States that supported slavery in the…

Millennials Are People Too

I love this.
I’m only 14, but I already know that life isn’t all “privileged” outside of school. My parents tell me that I’m privileged. I understand that. But after I cut the cord that keeps us connected, and start living on my own, I also understand that it won’t be easy. Older people always complain that we are lazy, and that we don’t know a “hard day’s work”.
In a society like today, we can’t just get a good paying job with no college or high school diploma. And, to get that really good job, we need to have “previous work experience”. We are pressured to make all A’s, graduate top of the class, and still balance volunteer work/regular work, a social life, sleep, and so many other things. We aren’t worse off than anyone else, and we aren’t better than everybody else. We are all the same.

"Be like Aslan," she wrote.

I’m tired, y’all.

Tired of not fully understanding my French reading. Tired of not having proper time to go the the Rec. Tired of my phone being broken.

Above all, dear reader, I am tired of being a Millennial.

Not because I’m ashamed of my Millennial brothers and sisters. Not because I wish I was born in another era (that’s a whole other story). But because I’m tired of being bashed in popular media.

I read anotherarticle the other day which sarcastically mocked 20-somethings. And it just might have been the straw that broke the 20-something’s back.

Hi, I’m an entitled and broke 20-something and today I’m here to share with you some tips and tricks to grocery shopping on a budget that I’ve picked up over the past year and a half. You see, I graduated college a year and a half ago and, without meal plans or…

A Little Thinking…

In your own blog, write about why you think most football coaches tend to be conservative, and most teachers tend to be liberal.

I was asked this question by the only extremely conservative teacher I know. While he often says really shallow and trashy things about democrats and liberals, he shocks me every now and then with a thought provoking question. They aren’t always political, but most of the time they are.

I am a misophonic. I have been ever since I was about nine or ten years old. What does that mean? I have a hatred of sound… but it’s not that simple. A clicking pen, chomping, my brother’s video game controller tapping… it makes me rage. I have a mental disorder in which I rage over a person chewing too loud. I know, it’s not possible, and I have some other kind of disease, because misophonia just doesn’t exist.

It does exist. And it sucks. It effects my life so much that I could be making all A’s in school. But, in the middle of my English class, I have three pen clickers. I ask politely for them to stop. They brush me off as if it doesn’t matter. They are the people keeping me from being able to pay attention in class, and I can’t blame it all on them. I sometimes have to stay after class just to ask the teacher questions about things she already said. Because all of my attention is focused on those three people. I can’t help it. I’m not ADD. I’m trying my hardest.

Then, in another class, this girl constantly pops her gum. And when she’s not popping it, she chews it like a cow would chew grass. It’s annoying, and she makes me want to cry and smack the gum out of her mouth all at the same time.

I have SAD and Misophonia, and they are controlling my life

And I have no power to fight back.

A Day of Thanks… And Then The Day After

Ah, Thanksgiving…

A time for turkey and dreaded family reuniouns.

A day to be thankful for what you have…

To eat all you want and feel guilty about later

A day for fun or falling outs…

and then the day after.

It’s funny after a day of already being thankful for what people have, they are the first ones buying into corporate America, camping outside until their official opening on Black Friday. If I do go shopping, I go to one of the plenty mom and pop stores here. It’s so much better to live in a foreign country, where they don’t have the same traditions as us. Sadly, these foreign countries are trying to adopt “traditions” of the “father country”, America. While I am a progressive, I think that something as negative as Black Friday should not be spread. It’s quite ironic how people will go out and spend 500 dollars on things they don’t need, and yet complain about how they can’t afford a 200 dollar grocery bill.

Black Friday isn’t progress… it’s greed.
